testing theory (mysteries of miniaturization)
mysteries of miniaturization- testing theory
A collagraph in a continuing series of very small prints - playing with ideas of the miniature and grandeur, something wistful and something old, and something else uncommon or unexplained.
Edition of 10-15
6 x 5 in. Image size
8 x 10 in. Paper size (different than pictured)
A collection of Collagraph prints in series -
On color, on shape, on marks, on the simplest of structures to edit, on the hand.
This series of seven images will consist of small-scale, hand-printed editions that work together or alone. Shifting focus to small images in editions of, loosely, a dozen means that original prints remain affordable, and there are more opportunities to share.
Printing plates are made using simple materials like cardboard, sand, a binder. To make a transfer of ink, they undergo thousands of pounds of pressure when run through the etching press with dampened paper. They only hold up for so many prints, and that means new images will have their moment, as the plates are exhausted and retired. Instead of recycling old images in open digital editions, the images have a life and an ending.
