…what I miss about working in community spaces is the reciprocity of it - learning from how other people approach the work, and others learning from you. Plus, it’s a very relaxing thing to get to tune into someone else pulling a print.

An idea, completely ordinary and, also, miraculous; By virtue of being next to one another. To me it means relationships between objects, ideas, associations, and emotions…

Portals and water, reflection, reflecting, deep space and pretend space and structures that come together but don't exactly make sense but somehow still work.

Painting and Printing together. A way in to printmaking for many artists and students, making marks freely and directly - monotype, and monoprints by extension, was shared more widely as another expressive language for artists, especially painters, to explore technique and imagery within the structure of the printed plate.

Last year, I was standing in the aisle of my local art supply store looking for some excitement, and what did I find but a gel press.

Some months ago, I put together this process video - a multiple block linocut from carving to inking and printing multiple color proofs. It’s slow and layered work, lots of steps which become second-nature the more you do them.

Going Home

By which I mean returning to a previous state

finding it the same but you changed

A process video touching on carving these three blocks, printing them together, changing the colors, three times, three prints. A writing practice, a reading aloud practice, and learning to use the skills I’ve gathered.

To capture a story from a random jumble of happenings and circumstances, to see connections and patterns, to pick out the parts that make us feel there is something to really live for - this process of meaning-making is, I’m guessing, what art was meant to do.
